Hayleys Solar Launches Children’s Book on Solar Power to Celebrate World Children’s Day
Hayleys Solar, the renewable energy arm of Hayleys Fentons launched a children’s storybook, “Sunflower and the Bee” in Sinhala, Tamil and English at the International Book Fair (BMICH) recently, in celebration of International Children’s Day.
The book is an initiative by Hayleys Solar to raise awareness about the benefits of solar power for young readers, creating awareness about ‘Solar Power – The Task at Hand’, to instil a sense of responsibility through a call to action.
Speaking at the launch event, Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons, Hasith Prematillake stated, “With the launch of this children’s book on solar power, we aim to inspire the next generation to embrace sustainable energy solutions and ignite their curiosity about our planet’s future. We want to empower our children with the knowledge and desire to build a sustainable future for our beautiful country.”
According to Roshane Perera, CEO of Hayleys Solar, “The book educates children on sustainable solutions to energy difficulties, helping them understand solar power, and inspiring environmental stewardship among the future leaders of our nation.”
The first copies of “Sunflower and the Bee” were presented by the Managing Director, Hasith Prematillake, to Samantha Indivara Samarasinghe (President of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association); Chandu Haputhanthri (Vice President of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association); Namal Rathnayake (Vice Principal of Ananda College), and to groups of school children over the course of the event. Up to 10,000 copies of the children’s storybook have been released.
A Digital Version of “Sunflower and the Bee” is also available at https://youtu.be/QfVVTIfo8h0. A notable highlight of these animations is that the story characters have been voiced by the children of Hayleys Fentons’ employees.
Hayleys Fentons celebrated World Children’s Day by hosting an engaging event for the children of its employees, filled with fun activities. A key highlight was Mohan Pandithage, Chairman and Chief Executive of Hayleys PLC, reading the “Sunflower and the Bee” storybook to the children before handing over copies together with Hayleys and Hayleys Fentons officials.
