Rajendra Theagarajah recognised with SLID–ACCA silver award for board leadership excellence

First Capital Holdings PLC and Janashakthi Finance PLC, subsidiaries of JXG (Janashakthi Group), announced that their Chairman, Rajendra Theagarajah, was honoured with the Silver Award for Outstanding Independent Non-Executive Director of the Year at the inaugural SLID–ACCA National Corporate Director Awards 2025, in recognition of his leadership, integrity and contribution to strengthening corporate governance standards in Sri Lanka.

The awards ceremony was hosted by the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) in partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). British High Commissioner Andrew Patrick attended as Chief Guest, with Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Senior Professor D.B.P.H. Dissabandara as Guest of Honour, and International Finance Corporation Principal Country Officer Victor Antonypillai as Special Guest.

Mr. Theagarajah was appointed Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of First Capital Holdings PLC in 2024, and Chairman of Janashakthi Finance PLC in 2022, bringing with him extensive experience in financial services leadership and board stewardship. Since his appointments, he has played a key role in strengthening governance frameworks and supporting the Group’s long-term strategic direction.

The SLID–ACCA National Corporate Director Awards 2025 were established to recognise directors who demonstrate excellence in board leadership while advancing professionalism and global best practices in corporate governance. The inaugural awards underscored a shared commitment to elevating leadership standards and celebrating individuals whose contributions continue to support Sri Lanka’s economic progress.
