The MMCA Sri Lanka Announces Free Public Programmes for February 2025
The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka (MMCA Sri Lanka) is pleased to announce its lineup of free public programmes for February 2025. They are presented as part of the second rotation of the museum’s current exhibition titled ‘Total Landscaping’, which explores the transformation of land in Sri Lanka. The programmes are designed to engage visitors with this unique exhibition, encouraging meaningful conversations and reflection. This will be the final round of public programmes before this rotation closes on 2 March 2025.
Start the month with a Curator’s Tour led by Thinal Sajeewa, Assistant Curator at the MMCA Sri Lanka, on 01 Saturday, February from 11 am to 12 pm. This insightful tour offers an opportunity to explore ‘Total Landscaping’ through the unique perspective of one of its curators. You can also join Thinal’s final tour for Rotation 2 of ‘Total Landscaping’ on 15 Saturday February.
Hear more curatorial perspectives on the exhibition on Saturday, February 8, and Sunday, February 23, with Sandev Handy, Senior Curator at the MMCA Sri Lanka. Sandev’s dynamic approach to storytelling will lead these curator tours, which will guide participants through the exhibition and offer insights into the artworks and the broader themes of land transformation.
The MMCA Sri Lanka will also offer artwork Spotlights, where Visitor Educators from the museum will focus on a selected artwork on display in ‘Total Landscaping’. These sessions provide an intimate and detailed exploration of individual pieces, shedding light on the artists’ perspectives and creative processes. You can join these Spotlights on 5 and 19 Wednesday February from 4 to 5 pm.
The final Curator’s Tour for Rotation 2 of ‘Total Landscaping’ will be led by Sandev Handy on 1 Saturday, March from 11 am to 12 pm. Drop by with your friends and family to catch this final programme at the MMCA Sri Lanka until the new rotation of ‘Total Landscaping’ opens on 15 March!
