SLIIT’s MPhil & PhD Programs are University Grants Commission (UGC) approved and offer candidates an exceptional opportunity to engage in advanced research and elevate their academic credentials to the highest levels.

Building on SLIIT’s strong foundation in postgraduate research education established through similar programs in the Faculty of Computing and Faculty of Engineering since 2017, SLIIT Business School welcomes qualified candidates interested in conducting original research across multiple business disciplines. These advanced research degrees adhere to the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF) guidelines, with the MPhil positioned at SLQF Level 11 and the PhD at SLQF Level 12 and provide a structured pathway for academic advancement and scholarly contribution.

The programs offer students an exceptional opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research across multiple business disciplines including Business Management, Economics, Accounting & Finance, Trade & Commerce, Banking & Insurance, Information Management, Public Management, and Human Resource Management.

SLIIT’s research programs stand out due to an exceptional supervisory panel consisting of researchers with national and international postgraduate qualifications and extensive research experience. Additionally, an Honorary Professors’ Network featuring eminent academics from international universities provides joint supervision opportunities, giving PhD candidates access to global perspectives and expertise.

Successful performance in the initial proposal examination, followed by an interview, enables candidates to secure their initial registration. After working with their supervisor for six months, candidates present a comprehensive proposal for confirmed registration.

SLIIT offers attractive scholarship schemes with full scholarship for outstanding students based on program-specific criteria. In addition, to this generous scholarship schemes, tuition fee waivers of up to 90% are available for outstanding applicants, making these advanced degrees more accessible to deserving candidates. For added flexibility, tuition fees can be paid in instalments at the beginning of each segment of the program.
